The Everlasting Father is the Ultimate Gift, Part 6
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
A good father is caring, compassionate, kind and willingly sacrifices himself for his children. Underlying his many qualities is a deep love that never fails. The Lord Jesus Christ has proved, beyond doubt, to be the ultimate Father. He loves us greater than anyone else. He showed us this by dying and raising himself from the dead to secure us an opportunity to live with him forever (Joh 15:13, Rom 10:13, 1 Tim 1:15).
As well as receiving eternal life (Tit 1:2), the moment we accept Jesus as our Saviour we receive amazing blessings that only He (Jesus the Everlasting Father) can give, these include:
Knowing his love can never cease, no matter what happens:
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? … No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. Romans 8:35, 37
A constant and endless stream of mercies:
The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; … Lamentations 3:22-23
A tireless and righteous advocate:
My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 1 John 2:1
An intercessor who guarantees our salvation:
Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25
In addition, we receive all spiritual blessings in Him:
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, Ephesians 1:3
These are just some of the blessings we receive the moment we accept the Everlasting Father as our Saviour.
… I came that they may have life and have it abundantly. John 10:10
