Let's watch like Miriam did

And his sister stood at a distance to know what would be done to him. Exodus 2:4

Miriam watched her brother closely as he floated down the river. She wanted to see what would happen to him.  This no doubt reflected her love for him as well as her love for her mother and father as well as Aaron, her other brother.  Her dedication and love characterised the way she watched and meant she could be used mightily by God.

We are to watch for the Lord’s return in the same way (Tit 2:13) – that is with purpose.  Further, we are encouraged to “watch and pray” (Mar 13:33) as all well as watch – lest the master returns and finds us asleep (Mar 13:36).  Let us embrace the example of Miriam as well as the command of our Lord: “WATCH” (Mar 13:37) and be ready for his return walking in wisdom redeeming the time (Col 4:5).

Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is. And everyone who thus hopes in him purifies himself as he is pure.1 John 3:2-3
