Benefits of Spending Time with God – Part 2

But the righteous shall be glad; they shall exult before God; they shall be jubilant with joy! Psalm 68:3

Previously we briefly considered Isaiah’s experience which showed us that when we spend time with our Lord, we can be blessed by seeing glimpses of Him in all His glory.  In this snippet, we shall consider Mary’s experience – it is one of joy replacing sorrow.

MARY’S SORROW TURNED TO JOY: JOHN 20:1-18

One of our Bible’s most beautiful and emotional scenes is when Mary met our Lord on the morning of his resurrection (Joh 20:1,11-18). Mary weeping and wondering (Joh 20:11,13) where they have taken the body of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ turns to who she thought was the gardener. This man, our Lord, spoke her name, and recognising His voice she turned to him, I think it was at that point that the tears of sorrow became tears of joy.  We too can have the same experience. In times of stress and hardship, we may not feel his presence – but he is there (Heb 13:5) and at precisely the right moment he will reassure and comfort us by showing us that he has been there the whole time
