Miriam's Pride
…, behold, Miriam was leprous, like snow. Numbers 12:10
Pride is an abomination to God (Pro 16:15) and he punished Miriam for it (Num 12:10). It does us well to know that we can be just as guilty as Miriam was and also feel God’s hand of righteous judgement (1 Cor 11:30). Fortunately, the scriptures provide instructions on how we can insure against it: this includes to “walk in the spirit” (Gal 5:16). Further, should we be guilty of pride (or any other sin) the scriptures instruct us to “confess our sins” (1 Jo 1:9). For our God is great, gracious, longsuffering and merciful and WILL “forgive us our sins” when we confess them to him, no exceptions! (1 Jo 1:9).
Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall….Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy. Proverbs 16.18, 28:13
